Magic and (Virtual) Reality!

More about the Press Conference. I got my friend Aram Pan, creator of Singapore VR, to cover the press conference from a different angle – a panaromic angle that includes ceiling, floor and dark corners of the theatre. You can zoom in to ogle at somebody or pan out to admire the entire stage setting. Cool. It’s the latest in Virtual Reality (VR) technology.

I’m already dreaming of what VR can bring to MagicBox. So much goes into a stage production -- from choreography to props, costumes and lighting -- that I’ve never felt conventional photography did justice to capture the scope and the effort. With VR, our online audience can ‘play around’ among the audience, zoom in to admire the carefully-crafted props and be immersed in the action on stage.

There’s so much potential with Virtual Reality. Aram said, “VRs can be used to transport the audience into the recording studio to “witness” the music composers at work; they can be right in the thick of the stage setup, and fans can “sneak a peek” into Lawrence’s and Priscilla’s dressing room just as if they are holding “backstage passes” when actually they are viewing it from their laptops.”

For now, come ‘participate’ in our backstage interview with My Paper and admire the visual-surround feast in the Gallery Theatre, National Museum.

Yours Magically,
Priscilla
