Press Conference Took Off!

I’ve just finished an exhilarating press conference on 1 April. It’s for our upcoming MagicBox performance at the Esplanade, so it’s pretty important to us. We invited Mediacorp TV, Straits Times, Zaobao, everybody. On the day itself, our friends also turned up to give support.

Loretta Chen (our stage director) was present to make sure that the Gallery Theatre in National Museum, which we’d chosen to hold the press conference, would be suitably dark and dramatic for the event. Lai Chan (our costumes designer) was indispensable in getting me into my gear and for giving me the final critical once-over. By the way, I had sizzling compliments on my Parasol outfit and matching black and white knee-length boots. I had thought they were a little over the top in sober daylight, but, wow, when I saw myself in the press conference video, I impressed me. Haha. Kudos to Lai Chan!

Representatives from our Presenting Sponsor, Sutera Harbour, also graced the occasion.
But I didn’t have time to catch up with the guests. I was rushing around backstage checking magic gear in my pockets, confirming last-minute instructions with Dad and mentally rehearsing my brand-new parasol act.

I’ll always be grateful for the chance to study under Haruo and Luna Shimada in USA and to add parasol magic to my repertoire. At the Press Conference, I had the great satisfaction of seeing several people’s eyes pop when I launched into the hot and fast routine. Some of these people have known me for a long time and they thought they’d seen all my tricks. Hah! I showed them.

Few people can resist parasol magic once they see it. The painted and waxed umbrellas add natural colour and vibrancy to any stage. They pack small and go off big. Synchronise your act with your favourite music and you have a kind of ballet and magic and Eastern mysticism all rolled in one.

The pace is really picking up towards our inaugural performance at the Esplanade. I hope you’ll come! I know for sure you’ll be entertained.

Yours Magically,
Priscilla
